Our Teacher

Julia Freitor is a voice and piano instructor who helps students build confidence, technique, and authentic expression. With experience as a singer, pianist, and actress, she creates a supportive, fear-free environment where students learn to trust their voice and perform with confidence.

Question 1: What’s your secret superpower as a teacher, the thing students leave your class doing better than anywhere else?

My secret superpower is helping students believe in their own voice—literally and emotionally. They leave my class not only singing or playing better, but trusting themselves more. I teach them how to be present, how to take risks, how not to fear mistakes, and how to express something real instead of just hitting the right notes.

Question 2: What’s the most unforgettable moment you’ve had with a student on or off the stage?

Watching my student who once whispered her way through lessons step onto a stage and sing with full confidence for the first time. Her  voice was beautiful—but the real moment was seeing her posture, her eyes, her belief in herself completely change. The first time she realized she wasn’t just singing notes— she was telling a story that moved people.

Question 3: If your classroom had a theme song, what would it be, and why does it fit your vibe?

“This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman — because my classroom is about owning who you are, celebrating individuality, and finding the courage to be heard. Every student walks into my classroom with potential, and walks out believing they can do things they once thought were impossible.

Question 4: What’s one traditional teaching rule you love breaking, and how does it help your students shine?

I openly celebrate mistakes. In my room, a cracked note or missed entrance isn’t failure—it’s information. That freedom removes fear and allows students to take the kind of risks that lead to real breakthroughs. Also I break the rule that the teacher must always be the one with the answers. I invite curiosity, discussion, and exploration. When students feel like collaborators in the process, their creativity flourish.

Question 5: Share one fun personal fact about you that your students (or parents!) would never guess.

I secretly get just as nervous before a performance as my students do, which is why I understand exactly what they’re feeling.

Stay tuned for more teacher spotlights as we continue to share the stories, philosophies, and personalities behind our incredible instructors. More coming soon.
